Bespoke joinery for Ockendon Road

Ockendon Road
Location: Islington, London
Contract Duration: 36 weeks

PCL were awarded this project and appointed Main Contractor after a competitive tender process.

The project comprised of major structural alteration throughout this large Victorian property requiring major temporary works designs and implementation, the installation of 30 ton of steel, excavation for a new basement, underpinning of the external walls, a new roof, new box frame and sash windows, new bespoke metal and glass patent glazing, bi folding doors and rooflights, the creation of a new rear addition to the basement, and the installation of a ground source heat pump system, rainwater harvesting systems, new drainage and drained tanking systems.

After gaining approval from the London Underground, we were able to drill three 100m bore holes in the rear garden to gain the heat source. This was carried out by a 7.5 ton drilling rig.

To enable access for the rig from the road to the garden, via the passageway, a structural platform was designed and installed by us supported by ten temporary piles to preserve the footings of both property's flank walls. On the completion of this work, fit out was able to commence.
